John Inman moved to Dallas Texas during the summer of 1989 to pursue his music career. Influenced by Randy Rhoads, Ed Van Halen, Neal Schon, and just about every other melodic hard rock guitarist you can think of, the next decade would have John cutting his teeth in local, original hard rock and metal bands. As the years went by, John would also seek out advanced lessons, and discover his love for jazz and fusion guitar music, which produced two solo/instrumental albums between the years 1999 and 2001. After several years in the top 40 cover circuit, John had the great fortune of meeting up with members of a tribute to his favorite band in the world, DEF LEPPARD. The band, DEF LEGGEND currently tours the US and many other countries.
How did you get started playing guitar?
You could say I started out as the reigning air guitar champion, in my bedroom. Upon hearing Randy Rhoads, for the first time, that woke me up and forced me to put down the broom stick, and get a real guitar!
Tell us about your current gigs?
Currently I spend most my time playing with my DEF LEPPARD tribute band, known as DEF LEGGEND. We do a fair bit of traveling and touring. If I have any downtime from that, I play with a number of local Texas bands.
How did you hear about Vintage Guitars?
I was just made aware of the brand by a guitar tech buddy of mine, but the first time I really sat down and paid serious attention was a couple of months later a local guitar shop in Frisco, TX. That’s when I was hooked!
What do you like most about our guitars?
EVERYTHING! They’re built to do everything I need on a gig. Obviously, the price point is pretty insane! They just happen to be the best sounding guitars I’ve probably ever had. Fantastic WORK HORSES!!
Any advice for players just getting started?
Rule #1 – HAVE FUN! Focus on and play what you enjoy, first and foremost! No matter what that is! In my opinion there is no right or wrong way to go about learning guitar. Find out what works best for you. What type of person or player might you be? Some people really enjoy a formal, school type approach. Others, enjoy banging around on it and figuring out their own way. You can make great progress either way!
